Attention action needed – Important Fire Safety Information
Artificial plants, trees and vines used inside commercial premises, hospitals and public buildings/offices are required, like curtains, seating fabrics and carpets etc., to conform to flame and fire resistant requirements.
Today most good quality artificial plants are made using an inherently fire resistant fabric. Those plants that are not made from such materials need to be treated with a flame retardant material.
Those of you that are developing new venues, refurbishing or making internal alterations to existing premises will be aware that it will be a requirement to provide documentation and fire certificates to satisfy fire prevention inspectors.
We therefore advise our customers to ensure they purchase products that conform to regulations. Also it is important to remember existing artificial plants that are not inherently fire resistant should be tested annually and re-treated if necessary. Likewise if plants are cleaned they may need retreating as flame resisting agents are water soluble and thus may become diluted as a result of cleaning.
